Anti-Heeling Systems

During loading and discharge, uneven weight distribution can cause a vessel to list. An anti-heeling system counteracts this by transferring water between dedicated tanks on either side of the ship, helping maintain an upright condition so cargo handling can continue safely.

System Description

An anti-heeling arrangement typically combines heel sensing, a control unit, transfer pumps or valves and the associated tank instrumentation. Vyon Marine approaches each installation as a system-integration task: understanding the vessel's tank arrangement and cargo profile, then engineering the control interfaces between sensing, transfer equipment and the existing ballast system. Exact system architecture is defined per vessel.

03

Applications

  • Container vessels
  • Ro-Ro and general cargo vessels
  • Heavy-lift and project cargo vessels
  • Offshore support vessels

04

System Configuration

Heel sensor → control unit → transfer pump / valve set → port and starboard heeling tanks, with indication at the control position and interfaces to the ballast and alarm systems.
